Pending Changes
Pending Changes lets an organisation require a second person to review eligible DNS edits before they are applied. It is an Enterprise feature. It works with the organisation’s role permissions: a change made by someone who cannot self-approve becomes a proposal for review.
Submit a change
Make the DNS edit as usual. When your role requires review, the form explains that saving will submit the change for approval. After saving, the change is listed under Pending Changes. It has not changed live DNS yet.
The proposer can open their pending change to review or cancel it. You can see your own proposals in organisations where you are a member. Changes from other people are visible to users who can approve changes in that organisation.
Review a proposal
Users with Approve Changes or organisation role-management permission can review proposals from other members.
- Open Pending Changes. The list defaults to pending items; use the filters to find a proposal by status, type, model, author, organisation, or date.
- Open a change and check the organisation, proposer, affected object, and before-and-after values.
- Add review notes if useful, then approve or reject the proposal.
Approval applies the proposed change. Rejection leaves the current DNS configuration in place and records the decision. Reviewers should confirm the target is still the intended zone or record. If that target has been deleted or replaced, the proposal cannot be applied; reject it and ask the proposer to submit an updated change.
Follow the outcome
Pending, approved, rejected, and cancelled proposals remain available through the status filter so the proposer and authorised reviewers can follow the outcome and review notes. An approved change may still take time to appear at authoritative servers; verify the DNS answer after it is applied. Pending Changes is the approval record, while the Activity Log records supported actions after they occur.
If no proposal appears, check that the organisation has the Enterprise feature and that your role lets you view or approve that organisation’s changes. See team management for the approval and self-approval permissions.
